During World War II, cigarettes were widely available to military personnel, included in rations, sold at discounted prices at Post Exchanges (PXs), and sent in care packages from home. They were considered a necessity for morale and were often used as a form of currency.

This tin of Navy Cut Cigarettes by W.D & H.O Will's from London has still a very nice appearance. It is filled up with tobacco (but it should be cigarettes)
We have quite a few of these (all different), they all come from an old collection of a wholesaler in tobacco products
