The Kartentasche (map case) was a standard item of equipment for officers and non-commissioned officers in the German armed forces (Heer, SS, Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine, etc.) during World War II. It served to store and protect maps, documents, and writing materials.
This item:
A early variant executed in brown leather and aluminum clasps. It is named, but I cannot find a maker mark. It still has some content, some maps and a few pencils. Nice brown leather map case in a used and good condition.
