MG 34 - 42 Gun barrel Mitt

This mitt belongs in the accessories kit of an MG gunner team. After every 150 round (fired repeatedly), the barrel had to be changed. A tedious job, because the barrel is red hot, that's why these mittens made of asbestos were used. The M.G. team always carried a reserve barrel in a so-called "laufschutzen" (a steel transport tube for the spare barrel), where the hot barrel could cool down. Maker marked, a faint WaA is still visible. Mitt in Mint condition!
