Awarded to: Military personnel of the Wehrmacht (Army, Navy, and Air Force) who fought in the Crimea region (Krim in German) between September 21, 1941, and July 4, 1942, under the command of Field Marshal Erich von Manstein. Recipients generally needed to have served in the area for at least 90 days, been wounded, or participated in a major operation.
Appearance: It is a shield-shaped badge made of stamped metal with a bronze finish. The design features the German eagle clutching a swastika above a map of the Crimean peninsula bearing the word "KRIM," flanked by the dates "1941" and "1942". The shield was issued mounted on a cloth backing matching the recipient's uniform color and sewn onto the upper left sleeve.
