Rare WW2 German Kriegsmarine Officers Mess Serving Platter - T.V.A. Eckernförde (Johann Haviland, Bavaria)
A very rare, large-sized piece of authentic German Kriegsmarine officers' mess porcelain. This is a massive serving platter, measuring an impressive 40.5 cm x 26.5 cm, manufactured by the prestigious maker Johann Haviland from Bavaria.
The rim features a crisp, vibrant red insignia shield specifically designated for the T.V.A. (Torpedoversuchsanstalt) based in Eckernförde. The emblem beautifully displays a torpedo, an anchor, a compass, and a cogwheel, representing the technical development of naval weaponry.
The Torpedoversuchsanstalt (TVA) Eckernförde was the central, highly secretive research and development facility of the German Navy for testing torpedoes and advanced naval weaponry. Throughout World War II, this facility was at the forefront of naval technology, developing specialized torpedoes and training personnel for Kriegsmarine U-boats and midget submarines (such as the Biber and Seehund).
Excellent condition. Strictly no cracks, no chips, and no repairs. The glaze is beautiful, and the historical red T.V.A. marking on the rim is clear and fully intact.
Finding standard Kriegsmarine dinner plates is tough enough, but large serving platters designated to specific, elite naval research facilities like the TVA are incredibly scarce. An essential addition to any advanced Third Reich naval or tableware collection.
