A Waffen-SS belt buckle was a standard-issue piece of military equipment worn by members of the Waffen-SS, featuring the organization's motto and a specific eagle-and-swastika emblem. The buckle for enlisted men and non-commissioned officers (EM/NCO) was a rectangular "box" style with a high-relief, embossed central motif. This motif consisted of an SS-style national eagle with outstretched wings, clutching a wreath that encircled a static swastika. Encircling the central emblem was the Gothic script motto "Meine Ehre heißt Treue!" (My Honour is Loyalty!). The materials used changed over time due to wartime demands. Early buckles (c. 1931-1936) were made from nickel silver (Alpaka or Neusilber). Later versions were made from aluminum (1936-1940), and late-war buckles were typically stamped steel, often with a dull silver or gray painted finish.
Original WWII German Waffen-SS EM/NCO Steel Belt Buckle - Unmarked Overhoff & Cie.
A textbook, 100% authentic late-war Waffen-SS enlisted mans/NCO combat box belt buckle. This piece is executed in stamped steel. While it is historically correct left unmarked, it features all the definitive, unmistakable manufacturing characteristics of the renowned firm Overhoff & Cie from Lüdenscheid (identifiable by the specific design of the eagle, prongs, and internal catch). The obverse displays the high-relief SS-style national eagle clutching a swastika wreath, encircled by the iconic Gothic script motto: "Meine Ehre heißt Treue!" (My Honour is Loyalty!) This buckle is a true combat-worn veteran with an incredible look. It remains in very good, fully functional condition. Remarkably, it still retains roughly 80% of its original factory silver finish/wash, which has beautifully aged and toned over the decades. The reverse is completely intact, with the original prong bar and sleeve working perfectly.
Honest, light period wear and minor oxidation are present, giving it a fantastic, uncleaned "battlefield" patina that advanced collectors look for. An outstanding, iconic centerpiece for any advanced WWII military or combat equipment collection. 100% Guaranteed Original.
