The commemorating medal October 1, 1938, is an award from the era of National Socialism, commonly known as the Sudetenland Medal. The medal were awarded to individuals who had "distinguished" themselves in the annexation of the Sudeten German territories to the German Reich. The medal was instituted by Adolf Hitler following the Munich Agreement of 1938, which forced Czechoslovakia to cede the Sudetenland to Germany.
The bronze-colored medal depicts two male figures (allegories of Germany and the Sudeten German territories) on the front, and on the back, the phrase "One People, One Reich, One Leader" above a Reich eagle with a swastika. Over 1.1 million copies of this medal were awarded, making it a relatively common decoration.
