*A Wehrmacht Feldgesangbuch (Field Hymnal or Soldier's Songbook) was a small, pocket-sized religious book issued to soldiers of the German unified armed forces (Wehrmacht) during the Nazi era, particularly throughout World War II. These books were intended for the personal religious use of soldiers and typically contained prayers and hymns. They were issued in separate editions for the two main Christian denominations in Germany: Katholisches Feldgesangbuch (Catholic Field Hymnal). Evangelisches Feldgesangbuch (Protestant/Evangelical Field Hymnal). While religious in nature, the content was adapted to align with Nazi ideology. Specific inclusions demonstrated this influence. The books often started with the "duties of German soldiers" and the soldier's oath to Adolf Hitler. They included a "Prayer for Führer, Nation, and Armed Forces" (Gebet für Führer, Volk und Wehrmacht). Some traditional hymns had lyrics altered to include references such as "Loyalty to Führer, People, and Reich!". These hymnals were part of the standard personal kit for German soldiers and are now historical collectibles. *
