The Allgemeines Sturmabzeichen (General Assault Badge) was a German military decoration during World War II. Instituted on June 1, 1940, by General Walther von Brauchitsch, it was designed for personnel who participated in attacks but were ineligible for the Infantry Assault Badge or the Panzer Assault Badge. It was typically awarded to support personnel, Combat Engineers (Pioneers). Anti-tank units and Anti-aircraft units (acting in a ground role) Medical personnel supporting an infantry attack. To qualify, a soldier usually had to participate in three separate assaults on three different days
