Complete ensemble, see description
The Hitler Youth (HJ) Gebiet Oberdonau (29), often referred to as Südost Oberdonau on uniforms, was a regional branch of the National Socialist youth organization in the Reichsgau Oberdonau. This region encompassed parts of present-day Upper Austria, the Salzkammergut, and parts of South Bohemia. Organization and Structure. Within the national structure of 42 districts, Oberdonau was known as Gebiet 29. The leadership was located in Linz, the capital of the Gau, which Hitler considered his "hometown" and was to develop into a "Führerstadt."Subdivisions: The area was divided into various Banne (regiments), such as Bann 532 (Linz), Bann 536 (Steyr), and Bann 544 (Grieskirchen). Members of the HJ and the Bund Deutscher Mädel (BDM) in this region wore a distinctive triangle on their left sleeve with the inscription Südost Oberdonau. The term Südost referred to the overarching Obergebiet (main region Southeast), which included Oberdonau. These triangles had specific color coding: black with yellow lettering for the HJ and often white-piped versions for the BDM. Kammer-Schörfling housed the Wehrertüchtigungslager (Bann 564), a well-known military training school where boys were prepared for active service. Large-scale sporting events were organized, such as the Gebiets-Sportfest in Wels in 1944, intended to demonstrate the physical fitness of young people. There was an active branch of the Marine-Hitlerjugend (Naval Hitler Youth), which included a camp at Lake Attersee.
This item:
This ensemble consists of the following items: Hitler Youth Brown Shirt, scarf with knot, Feldscherabzeichen, Führerschnur, Armband, HJ membership pin, Sidecap with woven HJ diamond, short black cordhose, belt with shoulder strap and nickel-plated rzm lock, 1 pair of black half shoes, HJ knife, bread bag with sling, field canteen, and the HJ in Service handbook.
The brown shirt is in excellent condition with no moth, the stitching on the left side is loose, but this is easily repaired. I don't do such things myself and prefer to sell items as I found them. The jacket features all the typical buttons originally fitted, all marked "HJ DJ." The size is stamped "65" on the collar. The left breast pocket bears the Hitler Youth Mitgliedsabzeichen and the 1937 Siegernadel. The HJ mitgliedsabzeichen is in very good condition, no cracks or chips in the enamel and is marked RZM M1/13, which indicates its maker, L. Christian Lauer of Nuremberg. The Siegernadel is made of aluminum and is also in very good condition. It is marked by Hillenbrand & Broer of Ludenscheid. The Hitler Youth district triangle "Gebietsdreieck" Südost Oberdonau is in beautiful condition and bears an RZM label. The feldscherabzeichen is also in very good, worn condition. The jacket is equipped with a Hitler Youth Führerschnur (specialized braided rank lanyard). All badges are 100% original but in my opinion were added after the war. The armband is of the desired multi- layer type (4 layers), with a red background on top of that a white horizontal stripe, followed by the HJ diamond, and then the hand-woven swastika. The set comes with a nice triangular black worn sateen scarf which comes with a dark brown knot. The Overseas Cap (Sommer Mutze) is in beautiful, lightly worn condition, featuring a hand-woven, originally mounted HJ diamond. It is completely moth-free and has red piping. The original leather sweatband is complete and torn on one side. It has an RZM label. The artificial silk lining is completely intact and is fitted with a head size 53. The set comes with a pair of black shorts (Cordhose). It's in good condition; all loops, buckles, and buttons are original and come with these pants. The crotch is slightly torn. All buttons are marked HJ/DJ. A size 46 label is sewn in. A beautiful set. The black low leather shoes are in mint condition and have never been worn. They are not the well-known RZM type, but if you see photos from that period, the Hitler Youth wore a variety of shoes. The shoes are beautifully stamped on the inside; they were made by Wohlauf and are size 38. Shoes from this period are very difficult to find. The bread bag is in very nice, used condition and comes with the shoulder strap, which is rarely present. All leather loops and buttons are still present, except for the center button on the inside for the leather loop. It's a very nice, lightly used bag. The water bottle is in pristine condition, except for the Bakelite cap, which is a bit missing, but it closes perfectly. The light brown leather is very supple. All buttons are functional. The entire unit is completely moth-free. The drinking cup still has its original factory finish. The clasp is neatly attached to the belt and still has its original finish. The Hitler Youth knife is very early, predating the RZM period. It was made by Anton Wingen Jr. from Solingen. It comes complete with the sheath, to which the original hanger is still attached; the fastening loop with the snap has been torn. The Bakelite handles show no cracks or chips. The HJ diamond is in good condition. The original chrome-plated pommel and crossguard are in used condition, as is the sheath, which, although well-used, has not been repainted. The logo is still clearly recognizable. But more importantly: the "Blut und Ehre" motto too! A used but original HJ-Fahrtenmesser. The black leather belt buckle is in very beautiful and supple condition, still comes together with its tongue, and has a total length of 95 cm. The accompanying black shoulder strap is excellent. It is very neatly stamped by the Croupon company. The leather is very beautiful and supple, and the pebbled clips are both RZM stamped M5/75, which represents the company Dr. Franke & Co. KG, from Ludenscheid. The two pebbled D-rings with leather loops have always been an integral part of this shoulder strap. The nickel-plated belt buckle is in a good worn condition with very nice details and is neatly RZM marked by the firm Josef Feix & Söhne, located in Gablonz an der Neiße. And the icing on the cake is the entire set, complete with the Hitler Youth handbook "H.J. im Dienst". This 352-page book was the most important reference for Hitler Youth (future soldiers) in training, describing physical exercises, field training, marksmanship, map and compass reading, etc. All in all, we are talking about a very complete Hitler Youth ensemble, in a 100% original, partially used condition. I can hardly imagine anything more complete than this.
