The Kriegsabzeichen für die Marineartillerie (War Badge for the Naval Artillery) was a German military award during World War II. Instituted on June 24, 1941, by Grand Admiral Erich Raeder. Intended for land-based Kriegsmarine personnel, specifically crews of coastal artillery and naval anti-aircraft (Flak) units.
Design: A gilded oak leaf wreath with an eagle and swastika at the top. In the center is a dark gray/silver heavy coastal gun, facing upper left. It was designed by Otto Placzek of Berlin.
The award was awarded based on merit or a points system (usually 8 points required): 2 points: For independently shooting down an enemy aircraft. 1 point: For shooting down an aircraft together with another crew. 0.5 points: For supporting personnel (such as searchlight or radar operators) for a successful interception.
Direct award: For exceptional bravery, leadership, wounding, or death in combat.
