MINT M35 unit marked Wachmantel
Category:
€ 649,00
A German Wachmantel ("guard cloak") was an extra-heavy, lined overcoat used by the Wehrmacht and the Waffen-SS during World War II for soldiers stationed at guard posts or in extreme cold. The cloak was intended for soldiers in "solitary and exposed roles," such as sentries and vehicle drivers, who moved little and therefore needed more protection from the cold than the standard Einheitsmantel. The inside was fully lined with wool or animal fur (often sheepskin) for maximum insulation. It was a double-breasted (double-breasted) model made of thick field-gray wool (Feldgrau).
This item:
A beautiful early wachmantel, heavily lined and beautifully finished. It has a wonderfully beautiful lining. All buttons, loops, and hooks are still present. The cloak features several manufacturer's stamps, the size indication, and a very nice unit stamp 4/R.J 69. A magnificent ensemble.
