The NSRL Heavy Athletics Badge (or NSRL Performance Badge for Heavy Athletics) in the Gold Degree was an award of the National Socialist Reichsbund for Sports Support, the umbrella organization for sports in Germany between 1938 and 1945. The badge depicts the NSRL eagle with a swastika on its chest, surrounded by an oak leaf wreath. Specific versions for "Heavy Athletics" (Schwerathletik) focused on disciplines such as wrestling, weightlifting, and boxing. The physical award was made of gold-plated zinc or bronze for the metal version (often with a pin closure). There were also fabric versions made of black rayon with gold embroidery, intended for sewing onto sportswear. Manufacturers: Common manufacturers included Hans Gnad (Vienna) and Eugen Schmidhäussler (Pforzheim). The requirements for the gold badge were stricter than for bronze or silver and were often related Direct award was possible for athletes over 40 who completed the required fitness tests within 12 months. For younger athletes (18-32 years old), the gold badge was attainable after maintaining the silver badge for at least seven consecutive years. The badge required successful completion of five tests measuring strength, endurance, and speed (e.g., swimming, jumping, running, and shot put).
