*A German Luftwaffe Fliegerbluse is an iconic blue-grey, hip-length wool uniform coat worn by Luftwaffe personnel (pilots, ground crew, paratroopers) during World War II. Characteristic are the concealed button closure (fly-front), two pockets on the outside (from the M40 model) and a collar that could be worn open or closed. Made of blue-gray wool fabric. It is a "flight blouse" model, designed to be comfortable in cockpits and during daily work. The front has a hidden button closure (5 buttons). The M40 model (most common) has two slanted side pockets with flaps on the outside, plus internal pockets for a Soldbuch, for example. Usually equipped with a Luftwaffe breast eagle (eagle on the right chest), collar patches (collar tabs) and shoulder pads (epaulettes). There were early models (M35) without pockets and later models (M40/M44) with improvements such as pockets and a first-aid pocket on the inside. *

This set was once brought to the United States by an American veteran. It has hardly been worn, if at all, and is in truly excellent condition. Both the jacket and trousers are a large size, which I would describe as XL. The bird, the sewn-in shoulder boards, the "Tätigkeitsabzeichen Fliegendes personal" patch, and the chevron are all originally attached to the jacket. The aluminum belt hooks are present. The collar tabs have never been attached. The jacket is beautifully stamped with "L.B.A" and the full maker's stamp (nice detail: located on Adolf Hitler Strasse). The photos speak for themselves. The trousers have also never been worn, and I can't find any stamps on them. They are also a large size and match the jacket. A wonderfully nice set in beautiful condition.
