In the history of Nazi Germany, the SA (Sturmabteilung, literally "Storm Department") was the original paramilitary organization of the NSDAP. Its members were commonly known as the Brown shirts because of the color of their uniforms. The SA was founded in 1921 by Adolf Hitler in Munich and initially consisted mainly of unemployed people and veterans of the First World War (including many former members of the Freikorps). Guarding party meetings and Nazi leaders. Violently disrupting meetings of political opponents, especially communists and social democrats. Organizing imposing marches to project an image of power and discipline. Carrying out violent actions against Jews, trade unionists and other groups labeled as enemies by the Nazis. After 1934, the SA lost almost all its political influence and was overshadowed by the SS as the most important paramilitary force. However, the organization continued to exist until 1945 and was involved in the large-scale acts of violence during the Kristallnacht in 1938. After the Second World War, the SA was banned and dissolved by the Allies

This is a beautiful set belonging to a high-ranking member of the SA. It could, for example, have belonged to a Sturmführer, Sturmhauptführer, or an Obergruppenführer. In any case, it is a private purchase uniform of the highest quality. Crafted from high-quality wool and lined with a gold-colored silk lining. The jacket and trousers belong together; they were naturally made by the same tailor. The jacket features a neat tailor's label on the inside. Both the jacket and trousers are in beautiful condition. The insignia on the jacket have been removed, whether by Allied troops or perhaps by the wearer himself. Clear traces are visible where the shoulder patches were sewn in and on the collar where the collar tabs were mounted. In one of the jacket's breast pockets, I found two so-called screw buttons that held the shoulder boards in place. The buttons on the jacket are made of pebbled aluminum; one button is missing. On the back, the two buttons that served to support the belt are still attached. Inside the jacket, the carrying strap for attaching the dagger is still present. The trousers are also in mint condition; the buttons and laces are all still present, and the buttons are all marked by the same company that produced the jacket. The buckle for tightening the trousers was made by PRYM. A very beautiful set that might make for a nice restoration project; you only need a set of collar patches and 2 shoulder pieces. A magnificent set!
