A SA-Truppführer was a rank in the Sturmabteilung (SA), the paramilitary organization of the Nazi Party. In German, the title literally means "Troop leader". The rank was considered the equivalent of a Sergeant Major or a Adjutant in the regular army. A Truppführer usually led a SA-Trupp, a unit the size of a platoon. These units were part of larger, company-sized formations called SA-Stürme. The insignia for a standard Truppführer consisted of two silver-colored diamonds (pips) on the collar mirror.
Hierarchy: The rank was above that of SA-Oberscharführer and under that of SA-Obertruppführer. Between 1930 and 1934, the title was also used as a rank within the Schutzstaffel (SS). After the Night of the Long Knives however, in 1934 the SS variant was renamed to SS-Oberscharführer. The rank was part of the pseudo-military structure that the SA used to give discipline and a military aura to their street fighters and propagandists.

This sale consists of an SA identity card, an NSV identity card, a protective sleeve, a promotion certificate, an original large group photo, and an N.S.D.A.P. membership pin. Everything comes from the possession of the same person.
The set once belonged to Friedrich Sutor, who was originally a teacher. His SA identity card was issued in 1937; he was a former member of the Stahlhelmbund from 1922 to 1933. He was assigned to SA-Sturm 6/28. SA Sturm 6/28 was part of SA-Standarte 28, which was based in Cologne (Köln), Germany. Sturm 6: This was the specific company within Standarte 28. In practice, these units operated locally within the city districts of Cologne for tasks such as guarding party meetings and intimidating political opponents in the streets. He also has the NSV identity card. The NSV was a massive organization that handled social services, childcare, health, and welfare, promoting Nazi family policies and centralizing welfare efforts under the party. SA members, as dedicated members of the Nazi movement, frequently participated in or led NSV activities. At the NSV, he rose from blockwalter to zellenwalter. At the SA, he was promoted to Truppführer in 1944; however, by 1944, the SA as an organization actually no longer amounted to much. Both identity cards fit neatly into the protective sleeve behind hard translucent plastic, on the left and right. The photo included with this set is a rare original panoramic photo of the entire group he was assigned to; the photo measures 20 x 10 cm and bears an embossed mark by photographer N. Rybak, from Bad Oeyenhausen. Also included is his party pin, which is in good condition and stamped by the maker M1/186, which stands for Biedermann & Co. located in Oberkassel bei Bonn . Biedermann & Co. was reportedly the last manufacturer to receive an RZM (Reichszeugmeisterei) number, which occurred in September 1944, making them a very scarce and late-war producer. A very rare set with historical value
