The Bulgarian Military Order "for Bravery" (Bulgarian: Order "For Bravery") IVth class 2nd degree with the year 1941 is a rare officer decoration from the period of the Third Bulgarian Kingdom under Tsar Boris III. Intended for junior officers (such as lieutenants and captains) for exceptional deeds on the battlefield. A silver or silver plated Maltese cross (approx. 39-40 mm) with red enamel arms. Crossed swords between the arms of the cross. Front (Averse): A central red enamel medallion with a golden Bulgarian lion. The white outer ring contains the inscription "FOR BRAVERY 1941" (For Bravery 1941). (Reverse): The crowned monogram of the founder (Prince Alexander I) on red enamel, with the text in the white ring "PRINCE OF BULGARIA 1879". Is worn to a triangular ribbon on the left breast. The ribbon is sky blue with silver stripes along the edges. 1941 Emission: This particular issue marks the year Bulgaria signed the Tripartite Pact. Although awarded to Bulgarian officers, this version was also often granted to officers of the German Wehrmacht. Specimens with the date "1941" are considerably rarer than the earlier "1915" issue from the First World War. Difference with the 1st degree: Where the 2nd degree has a ribbon, the 1st degree of the IVth class is a so-called "stitch-cross" (without ribbon) that is pinned directly on the uniform.
