**The Winterhilfswerk (Winter Relief) was established in 1933 to provide food, clothing, and coal to impoverished Germans during the winter months. To encourage donations, small commemorative badges and medals known as "tinnies" were given to contributors. These early 1933-1934 badges from Gau Westfalen-Nord are historically significant as they represent the very first national campaign of the WHW.
