WWII German Wehrmacht Splinter Camouflage Reversible Combat Winter Jacket. An exceptional, heavily field-worn original World War II German Army (Heer) reversible winter combat jacket (Winterwendejacke). This iconic piece features the classic Splintertarn (Splinter camouflage) pattern on one side and reverses completely to a solid white winter camouflage pattern. This is a true, battle-tested "been there" frontline survivor from the freezing campaigns of the Eastern Front. It remains remarkably complete with its original integrated hood, waist drawstring, and even contains period repair cloth left inside the pocket by the combat soldier.
This Item
Camouflage & Fabric Condition: The jacket shows heavy, honest combat wear, age toning, and field use on both the Splinter and white sides. It displays incredible historical character with multiple period field repairs (tijdsreparaties) executed during the war. Four main buttons are currently missing from the front closure. Crucially, one original white button remains preserved inside one of the pockets. The small cuff buttons used to attach winter mittens are completely intact and present on both sleeves. The metal buttons on the white winter side retain their original, textbook wartime white lime/chalk camouflage finish used to prevent glare in the snow. The original integrated heavy canvas hood remains fully attached and unaltered. The internal waist-tensioning drawstring is completely intact, functional, and original to the piece. Inside one of the pockets, a few small, original scraps of Splintertarn repair cloth are still present—a phenomenal touch of personal soldier history.
