An incredibly prestigious, investment-grade original World War II German Army (Heer) General's combat tunic (Feldbluse). Tailored from premium, highest-quality field-gray gabardine wool, this bespoke tunic represents the rank of General der... (e.g., General of Infantry/Artillery), denoted by the two rank pips on the shoulder boards. The tunic features a classic M36-style dark bottle-green collar and is fully fitted with its original, factory-mounted insignia meticulously embroidered in genuine, heavy gold bullion wire. Complete with all gold-plated hardware and an integrated internal dagger hanger system, this museum-quality uniform is a spectacular centerpiece for elite World War II displays.
This Item
The Red Underlay (Waffenfarbe): Both shoulder boards feature the distinctive bright red (Hochrot) wool underlay base. Within the German Wehrmacht, this official Waffenamt branch color signifies that the officer held the elite rank of General staff or General of the Line (Heer). It is the correct and textbook color configuration for high-ranking field generals.
Insignia & Gold Bullion: All insignia—including the General's collar tabs (Kragenspiegel) and the breast eagle (Brustadler)—are original to the piece, tightly mounted, and beautifully hand-woven with high-relief genuine gold bullion wire. Shoulder Boards & Pips: Both high-tier sewn-in shoulder boards are in magnificent condition and originally mounted. The right side retains both of its original gold pips, while the left board currently misses one of its two pips. This minor rank star can be easily sourced and complemented by the future owner.
Hardware & Collar Details: The front closure features 6 gold-plated main buttons, with an additional 4 matching gold-plated buttons securing the pockets. The M36 dark green wool collar is in outstanding state, retaining all 3 original metal collar attachment clips designed to secure the internal neck liner, alongside both original metal hook-and-eye closure fasteners (oogjes en haakjes) at the front neck seam. Interior Lining & Dagger Hanger: The interior is lined with a luxurious, high-grade silken rayon fabric. It is entirely complete, including the original tailored slit and the internal canvas strap fitted with its original steel clip used to suspend an officer's dress dagger or sword.
Decoration Loops: The left breast pocket area features 7 professionally hand-sewn thread loops, ready to accommodate a substantial ribbon bar and multiple combat qualification awards (such as the Iron Cross 1st Class or German Cross). Sizing & Mannequin Fit: This is not a small-sized wartime tunic; it is estimated to be a desirable Modern Medium. Please note that the display torso used in the photographs is slightly oversized for the garment. The jacket is perfectly proportioned and ideally suited for mounting onto a standard historical display mannequin. Overall State: Excellent, unaltered field-used condition. To remain entirely honest and transparent: there is some minor, superficial period moth damage located on the lower left pocket and near the cuff of the sleeve. This wear is completely non-distracting and highlights its authentic, untouched historical survival.
