Rare English Edition Signal Magazine 12/1943

Signal was an illustrated photo journal and the primary international propaganda magazine of Nazi Germany during World War II. Published by the Wehrmacht from 1940 to 1945, it was designed for audiences in neutral, allied, and occupied countries. It was known for its high-quality production, featuring large-format photographs and extensive use of color photography. At its peak in 1943, it had a circulation of approximately 2.5 million copies. Beyond military reports, it included lifestyle articles on science, arts, and fashion. As the war turned against Germany after 1943, its tone shifted to mask the Reich's decline. This specific copy is the highly scarce English-language 'E' edition, published in June 1943 (Issue No. 12). While continental editions are frequently encountered, English-text variants are difficult to find as they were primarily distributed across the occupied Channel Islands (such as Guernsey and Jersey) and within British POW camps. This copy was recently recovered directly from an old bookstore on the Channel Islands.

This "Signal" magazine from June 1943 (English Edition, E Nr. 12) is a nice, illustrated work with many photos and features the original color centerfold poster. The magazine is in nice, stable condition, displaying honest period handling wear and light edge aging, as to be expected from an authentic paper survivor.
Crucially, this copy remains entirely complete, and the poster is completely intact and securely attached. The pages remain crisp and highly legible throughout.
