An original, highly robust, and exceptionally scarce World War I German Imperial Army Cavalry Saddlebag Securing Belt (Packgurt / Überwurfgurt für Satteltaschen), officially contract-stamped and dated 1916. Manufactured by the prominent military leather and equipment specialist C. Pose from Berlin, these specialized heavy-duty straps were designed to secure the large, heavy cavalry saddlebags (such as medical or standard gear bags) across the horse's back to prevent shifting and chafing during movement. Due to extreme material shortages, these indestructible pre-war and WWI transport straps were widely re-issued and utilized by German Cavalry units throughout World War II.

The cavalry belt is in nice, completely stable, and fully functional condition throughout, displaying honest period field usage and storage age. The Construction: The main body features its original heavy canvas webbing construction, reinforced with 8 separate vertical stabilizing ribs wrapped in sturdy brown leather bands to distribute weight evenly across the horse. All period stitching remains tight and intact. The Leather & Markings: Both ends are fitted with their original thick, black-painted leather closure tabs, complete with two adjusting straps on each side. The leather ends are clearly size-marked with the numeral 1 (Größe 1) and display a crisp, deeply struck manufacturer's oval stamp: "C. Pose Berlin 1916". All buckles function perfectly and the leather remains solid.
