This item consists of an exceptionally rare, museum-grade matching two-piece industrial factory die stamp set. While individual halves of such manufacturing tools—either the positive or negative die—occasionally surface on the market, finding a fully complete, matching two-piece set containing both parts of the pressing process is virtually unheard of. This industrial ensemble features the solid steel male (positive) block weighing exactly 1837 grams and the female (negative) block weighing 1634 grams.
The inner detailed engraving features highly dynamic, flowing wings flanking a sharp, standalone central swastika measuring 2 x 2 cm, with a total horizontal wingspan of 5.5 cm. This distinctive design completely omits any wreath or eagle head, indicating a highly exclusive configuration historically attributed to early or unique variants of the Luftwaffe Civilian Personnel and Technicians (Zivilbedienstete der Luftwaffe) visor cap insignia. The side of the 1634-gram block is crisply stamped with the wartime factory code 'nbs', identifying the production plant as Wagon- und Maschinenbau AG (WUMAG) located in Görlitz. WUMAG was a premier, high-tech engineering plant vital to the German war effort, specializing in heavy machinery, rolling stock, and military aviation components. These dies were utilized in a heavy industrial drop-forge or hydraulic press, where high-grade sheet metal was sandwiched between the two blocks and subjected to tons of pressure to stamp out the crisp details of the insignia. Crafted from the highest, most indestructible tool steel imaginable to withstand continuous industrial manufacturing, these massive blocks remain in phenomenal condition. Because standard final insignia of this specific configuration are virtually unrecorded in common reference books, this matching die set represents either an exclusive, in-house localized factory variant or a pre-production trial piece (Probestück). For the advanced collector, this set does not only represent a supreme piece of industrial Third Reich history, but it also functions as arguably the most unique, heavy-duty paperweights or indestructible doorstops in the world.
