WWI Imperial Prussian Iron Cross 2nd Class Official 'W II M' Mint Issue in Deluxe Jugendstil Presentation CaseAn exceptional, museum-grade complete presentation set from World War I. The core of this set features a 100% original German Imperial Prussian Iron Cross 2nd Class (Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse 1914). The cross is executed in a textbook three-piece format, comprising a chemically blacked, magnetically active iron core (Eisenkern) that remains remarkably intact with minimal aging, safely housed within a two-piece ribbed silver frame (Zarge). Significantly, the suspension ring is stamped with the highly desirable and rare official court mark "W II M", proving this specific medal was officially issued and quality-checked under the direct authority of Kaiser Wilhelm II via the Königliche Münze Berlin (Royal Berlin Mint), making it a top-tier variant far superior to standard commercial jeweler purchases. The cross is complete with its original black and white combat ribbon (Kämpferband). This imperial masterpiece is housed inside its highly uncommon, period-authentic luxury presentation case (Verleihungsetui). Departing from the standard plain black leatherette casings, this deluxe private-purchase or high-officer case features an intricately textured purple-brown cover adorned with a continuous Art Nouveau / Jugendstil oak-leaf and floral motif. The lower right corner of the lid displays a crisp, silver-embossed silhouette of the 1914 Iron Cross. The case retains its original, fully functional spring-loaded metal push-button release mechanism. The interior opens to display its original, premium lining. The bottom features a deeply recessed, cream-white velvet base (Samtinlay) custom-molded to perfectly grip the contours and suspension ring of the cross, keeping it firmly in place. The inside lid features its original padded cream-white silk cushion (Seidenfutter), which shows an authentic, light period tarnish imprint from decades of resting against the cross's silver frame. The internal silk hinge cover remains entirely intact and functional. The overall condition of the set is outstanding, completely untouched and uncleaned. The silver frame of the cross and the silver-embossed lid show a rich, dark natural aged tarnish and heavy patina that has developed over more than a century. A magnificent, historically complete investment piece for the advanced Imperial German collection.
