An exceptional, museum-grade Imperial Prussian Iron Cross 1st Class (Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse 1914). This premium award is executed in a textbook three-piece format, featuring a chemically blacked, magnetically active iron core (Eisenkern) safely housed within a heavy, solid silver ribbed frame (Zarge). The reverse of this specimen provides definitive material and workshop authentication, featuring a centrally struck, dual-die hallmark showing the prestigious court jeweler initials "CD" for Carl Dillenius of Pforzheim, placed directly above the official "800" silver purity stamp. The hardware configuration remains 100% complete, original, and fully intact. It features a massive, block-style hinge assembly (Bockscharnier) at the top arm and a correct period round wire C-catch mounted to the lower arm, securely holding the original, robust vertical pin-back needle. The hardware function holds its original factory tension perfectly, a rare and highly desirable state for an untouched combat award. The overall condition of the cross is outstanding and un-upgradable. The reverse silver surface remains uncleaned, boasting a spectacular, dark-toned natural silver patina and rich oxidation clusters surrounding the historical factory solder beds, which has developed over more than a century. The factory black paint on the iron core is remarkably intact. Accompanied by its original presentation case with royal blue velvet lining, this complete set represents the pinnacle of Imperial German awards.
