An exceptionally rare, investment-grade example of an Imperial German Army small first aid field dressing (Kleines Verbandpäckchen), measuring a compact and desirable 8 x 5.5 cm. The bandage remains in completely unopened, factory-sealed condition. The coarse linen casing prominently features a crisp, dark blue ink inspection stamp from the Signal/Medical branch: "SD XIV AK", indicating issuance through the Sanitäts-Depot of the prestigious XIV. Armee-Korps (Baden). It is explicitly and beautifully wartime dated with a bold blue "1917" stamp. The face and reverse of the packet feature the crisp instructional text "Faden abstreifen" (Pull off thread). Crucially, the original cross-tied closing twine with its period knot remains entirely intact and untouched. The side is clearly marked "Keimfrei" (Sterile), indicating a waterproof, sterile barrier seal. WWI small field dressings designed to fit exactly inside the designated tunic bandage pockets are incredibly fragile; an untouched survival in this immaculate condition is virtually impossible to upgrade.
