early-war German military folding spork (Goffel) is a textbook personal field equipment item manufactured in 1940. Constructed entirely from lightweight stamped aluminum characteristic of high-quality pre-1941 production, the handle features a very crisp, deep manufacturer stamping for VDNS alongside the production year 40. Designed as a space-saving combination of a fork and spoon for the individual soldier's field mess kit (Essgeschirr), the folding mechanism remains fully functional and tight. The piece exhibits beautiful, honest signs of period field use with an attractive untouched patina.
