Late-War Rotbart "Mond-Extra" Safety Razor (Zinc Knob Variant) in Original Box. A unissued, textbook example of a German WWII period personal grooming item. While the Wehrmacht issued basic, unmarked shaving gear, the vast majority of German soldiers preferred to bring high-quality commercial razors from home or purchased them directly from military canteens (Kantinenware).
This complete set is a classic piece of "private purchase" (Personal Kit) equipment that would fit perfectly inside a soldier's breadbag (Brotbeutel) or wash roll setup. Rotbart "Mond-Extra" (Manufactured by Roth-Büchner GmbH, Berlin). Features the metal handle with a spiral knurled grip. Crucially, this is the scarcer late-war production variant featuring the tensioning knob at the base crafted from solid zinc (Kriegsmetall) instead of pre-war brass or bakelite—a classic testament to wartime material restrictions. The head is cleanly stamped with the "Rotbart Mond-Extra" trademark. Comes in its original, vibrant red cardboard issue box featuring the famous period marketing slogan: "Gut rasiert – gut gelaunt!" (Well shaved – in a good mood!). The cardboard is crisp and shows only minor shelf wear. Includes the original protective tissue paper wrapper. Includes one original, unused and wrapped period Rotbart Be-Be double-edged razor blade in its classic red, white, and blue packaging. An exceptionally clean and highly displayable piece of daily wartime life, showing great period material characteristics. Perfect for finishing a late-war gear or mannequin display.
