This is a rare and 100% original Early-Pattern M40/M41 Wehrmacht Tropical Canvas Belt (Tropen-Koppelriemen) that showcases unique, highly sought-after manufacturing details from the early transition period. Instead of the common late-war semi-circular catch, this piece features the rare, straight and angular zinc-plated steel catch factory-mounted over an extra leather reinforcement strip. The leather adjustment tongue is double-secured, being both factory-stitched and extra reinforced with two original nickel-plated hollow rivets to prevent tearing under frontline stress. Additionally, the canvas tip is beautifully bound in its original leather trim to prevent fraying, a luxury feature that was completely abandoned later in the war. The belt is in entirely untouched condition and retains a crisp, original ink size stamp for 85 centimeters, proving it was never shortened or civillian-modified after the war. Adding historical value is the period handwritten veteran's name in blue ink on the inner tongue, which reads Gefr. followed by his surname and the branch abbreviation Art. for an Artillery Regiment. This is a true textbook, museum-grade early-war DAK or Mediterranean combat piece with character and a personal history.
