Original WWII German Wehrmacht M40 Combat Field Blouse (Feldbluse) – Kaufmann 1941 Dated & Striking Period Back Repair
A highly attractive, textbook, and combat-proven M40 field blouse that features one of the most characterful and meticulously executed period field repairs we have ever encountered. This is a true frontline survivor that beautifully illustrates the realities of wartime conservation and depot alterations. The jacket is tailored from heavy, authentic feldgrau combat wool (strictly wool, not HBT). The standout feature of this uniform is the large, rectangular repair patch positioned on the upper right back. This alteration was highly professionally done by hand during the war, utilizing a slightly contrasting shade of feldgrau wool inserts secured by tight, even double-stitching. This gives the tunic immense visual power and display character. Inspecting the insignia and components reveals total textbook accuracy. The breast eagle (Hoheitsabzeichen) is perfectly period applied; machine-stitched along the top edge and neatly finished by hand around the remainder, exactly as per regulations. The tunic comes with a beautiful, fully matching set of early-to-mid-war infantry shoulder straps, which are secured via unique, period blue-fabric loops. The interior is lined in the correct grey-brown cotton twill and remains in an exceptional, heavily combat-worn but completely undamaged and intact state. Directly above the size stamps, a clear and crisp manufacturer's ink stamp "KAUFMANN" is present, certifying the exact textile factory of production. Directly below it sits the perfectly legible ink-stamped size matrix alongside the desirable depot mark and production date "41" (München, 1941). The bandage pocket flap also retains a sharp, handwritten inspector's numeral "2". Crucially, this field blouse has never been shortened or modernly altered. It remains entirely free from moth damage, tears, or open holes, retaining an excellent structural integrity while showcasing honest combat wear. An unrepeatable piece for a high-end combat mannequin display.
