WWII German Hand-Colorized Studio Portrait Photo - Infanterie-Regiment 2 NCO & Candidate
An exceptionally beautiful, original WWII German wartime studio portrait photograph featuring two related soldiers, likely brothers, serving concurrently. This premium piece is an original period hand-colorized photograph (zeitgenössisch koloriert), meticulously enhanced by a professional photo studio during the war to add lifelike tones to the faces and uniforms.
The young soldier on the left is depicted in formal attire, wearing a visor cap (Schirmmütze) and a ceremonial parade tunic (Waffenrock). His shoulder board exhibits a crisp, chain-stitched regiment number 2, identifying his unit as the 2. (Preußisches) Infanterie-Regiment based in Allenstein. His appearance is highly indicative of an NCO or Officer Candidate.
The older soldier on the right, sharing striking facial similarities, poses as a qualified Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) wearing an early-to-mid war field uniform and an M43 field cap (Einheitsfeldmütze). His chest features a textbook ribbon bar (Feldspange) representing his prior service in the Great War with the Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918 for Front-Line Veterans (Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer)and the button hole ribbon of the 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class. The photograph is in excellent structural condition, retaining sharp details and a wonderful authentic atmosphere. A premier piece of Wehrmacht insignia and uniform history.
