WWI Ottoman Empire 'Iron Crescent' (Gallipoli Star) - High-Quality German Manufacture
An exceptional, original WWI Ottoman War Medal, commonly known as the 'Iron Crescent' or 'Gallipoli Star' (Eiserner Halbmond). Sourced from the estate of a German WWI General, this is a premium German jeweler-made private purchase piece (such as Godet or Meybauer production). The silvered non-ferrous metal base retains a beautiful dark patina, featuring flawless, deep translucent red glass enamel across all five star points, which are notoriously prone to chipping. The central silver Tughra and crescent overlays are firmly fixed, and the reverse features a robust, fully functional vertical pin and catch system with a small silver hallmark/maker's stamp. A highly desirable, untouched officer-grade example in rare, investment-grade condition.
