WWII German Heer Officers Field Tunic - Hauptmann der Pioniere (Combat Engineer Captain)
An exceptional, original WWII German Army (Heer) privately purchased officer's field tunic (Feldbluse) for a Hauptmann within a Pioneer (Combat Engineer) unit. The tunic is tailored from high-quality field-grey wool with a classic dark forest green collar. It features beautifully matching insignia, including hand-embroidered silver aluminum wire bullion officer's collar tabs and sewn-in shoulder boards with two gold-toned pips, all featuring the textbook black branch color (Waffenfarbe) for the Pioneers.
The breast area holds a stunning, expertly hand-applied silver bullion wire officer's breast eagle. On the left side, the tunic boasts an impressive configuration of 10 original loops intended for a ribbon bar and multiple pin-back combat awards (such as an Iron Cross, General Assault Badge, or Wound Badge), along with an Iron Cross 2nd Class ribbon through the buttonhole. The interior is fully lined with smooth artificial silk and comes complete with its original built-in dagger hanger clip, featuring a crisp RZM M5/71 OLC manufacturer stamp for Overhoff & Cie, Lüdenscheid. The tunic shows honest period wear with a great natural shape, few minor, typical moth nips, but remains in overall excellent and solid condition. A fantastic centerpiece for any advanced field gear display.
