This is an exceptionally rare and museum-grade Royal Bavarian Court Livery tailcoat (Gala-Frack für königlich bayerische Hofbedienstete), dating from the pre-1918 Imperial German era (Kingdom of Bavaria). Crafted from a premium, heavy wool broadcloth in an incredibly rich, deep royal blue, the tailcoat features a double-breasted cut with standing-turn collar inserts adorned with ornate silver bullions. Crucially, the coat is entirely complete with its original, full set of silvered uniform buttons on the front, cuffs, and reverse tails. Each button features a beautifully struck, high-relief Royal Bavarian coat of arms (Königlich Bayerisches Wappen) surmounted by the royal crown, supported by two lions under a grand heraldic canopy. The left breast features a single stitched thread loop designated for a court or long-service medal. Inside, the tailcoat is lined in fine natural linen and polished cotton twill, featuring a clean, hand-applied inventory issue number ("829"). These numbered stamps were used by the royal palace wardrobe department (Hofmarschallamt) to catalog and track the uniform issue to specific court servants or footmen. Preserved in a truly extraordinary, mint state from an old German estate, the coat exhibits no moth damage, tearing, or structural wear, remaining perfectly vivid in color.
