Cased WW1 Named Iron Cross Grouping - Lt. Heidt
A very honest and rare to find, historically significant officer's grouping from the First World War. The centerpiece of this untouched ensemble is a 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class (EKII) by the desirable maker K.O. (Königliches Münzamt Orden, Berlin), clearly stamped on the ribbon ring. The cross is housed in its original presentation case, which remains in excellent condition with perfectly crisp, functioning hardware and the original ribbon stored inside. Accompanying the set is a heavily field-worn Iron Cross 1st Class (EKI), also a K.O. production, featuring a highly desirable contemporary engraving on the reverse reading "Heidt ↑ Lt. R 88". The upward arrow indicates his promotion during the war while serving as a Leutnant in the frontline trenches of Regiment 88. The group is completed by an intact civil stickpin featuring four crisp miniatures representing the EKI, EKII, Hindenburg Cross, and a black Wound Badge. A superb, fully researchable grouping directly attributable to a frontline officer.
