The Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF), or German Labour Front, was the single, state-controlled national labour organization in Nazi Germany. It replaced all independent trade unions, which were banned by the Nazis shortly after they came to power in May 1933. The DAF was the largest Nazi mass organization, eventually boasting more than 22 million members, and was led by Dr. Robert Ley.
