Imperial WWI "Notbajonett or Ersatzbajonett"

An "ersatz bajonett" is a substitute bayonet made to replace standard-issue bayonets, particularly during times of high demand like World War I. The term "ersatz" is German for "substitute," and these bayonets were produced in large quantities to equip a rapidly expanding military before traditional bayonet production could keep up. They often had a simplified, less-standardized construction and sometimes involved modifying captured bayonets or using materials that were in short supply. A very nice and scarse Ersatz bayonet with it's original scabbard and leather frog in a very good condition over all. Full metal grip. The brown leather frog is nicely maker marked and dated 1915. An interesting bayonet.
