The Dfh.f headphone (short for Doppelfernhörer für Feldfunkgeräte, or "double headphone for field radios") was a standard piece of communication equipment used by the German Wehrmacht (armed forces) during World War II. These robust, military-issue headphones were primarily made of black bakelite and connected by a leather-covered metal headband. They were the standard headset for ground-based personnel operating various field radio sets and backpack radios, such as the Torn EB, KWE, and others.Unlike the Dfh.b model used by Panz er (armored vehicle) crews which had rubber earcup cushions, the Dfh.f featured a simpler design often with just the hard bakelite ear pieces. Original sets are typically marked with "Dfh.f" (sometimes abbreviated), a manufacturer's code (like "bmm"), and a date stamp indicating the year of production (e.g., '40, '43, '44).
