Tan color Wehrmacht-Einheitskanister (German Jerrycan)
€ 349,00
The word jerrycan derives from the English (and American) slang term "Jerry" for Germans during World War II. The jerrycan is originally a superior German invention from the 1930s, the "Wehrmacht-Einheitskanister" ("Standard Canister of the Armed Forces"). Allied soldiers, who had their own, inferior fuel containers, captured large numbers of these German cans during the war, particularly in North Africa. The Allies adopted the clever, durable, and leak-proof design but named the captured (and later copied) containers after their German adversaries: "Jerrys." This is how the term "jerrycan" ("German Can") originated. The original German design was so well-conceived, with features such as three handles for easy carrying and a clever spout that eliminated the need for a funnel, that it remains the basis for many modern fuel and water containers today.

I have had quite a few of these in the past, but this one is by far one of the better ones. Allmost all original applied factory paint is still present. A very nice tan color, It's practically not used. A beautiful display item.
