The Huet 8x24 hand-held periscope is a historical periscope originally manufactured by the French company Huet Paris for the French military. During World War II, these devices were acquired in large quantities by the German Wehrmacht (particularly by tank units and snipers) and continued to be used.
The Optics are 8x magnification with a 24 mm objective lens diameter. The overall height is approximately 27 cm (approximately 38 cm with handle) and the width is 9.5 cm.
Weight: It weighs approximately 1400 g. This is a rigid vertical periscope (often referred to as a "rabbit ear" periscope), whose arms, unlike those of classic scissor-type telescopes, cannot be folded out horizontally.Scaling: The optics usually include a reticle (H/6400 artillery full circle) for rangefinding.
These devices were often used in trenches or from vehicles (such as the Sd.Kfz. 251) to make observations without directly endangering the gunner. Versions exist in the original field gray/green paint scheme, as well as rare sand-colored variants used by the Wehrmacht. If you own or intend to acquire such a device, you should check the smooth operation of the eyepiece adjustment and any clouding of the optics, as this is more common with age.

This is a truly excellent Huet in a beautifully camouflaged two-tone finish, and thankfully, for once, it's painted in a non-post-war paint. Unlike (almost) all Huets on the market, and there aren't many of them, both lenses are easily adjustable, and the original rubber eyecups are included. Both the top and bottom lenses are smoothly adjustable. The lenses are crystal clear.
