WH / Luftwaffe Philips 156 UBV Broadcast Receiver

The Philips 156 UBV is a rare, portable radio receiver manufactured by Philips in Eindhoven during World War II for use by officers of the German Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe. The receiver supports Long Wave (LW), Medium Wave (MW), and Short Wave (SW) frequency bands. The unit can be powered by dry cell batteries or alternating current (AC). The original battery holder is often still located on the underside of the chassis. The radio is housed in a robust Bakelite casing and was produced from 1942 onwards. Scale: The set has a round, illuminated celluloid station scale. The scale of some versions also includes station names such as Hilversum I and Hilversum II, which may indicate that some units were originally intended for the Dutch East Indies market and later modified. The controls consist of knobs for power/volume, tuning, and response control. On the back are connections for the antenna and ground, and a selectivity control knob. Due to its historical background and limited production, the Philips 156 UBV is a very rare and sought-after collector's item, especially in its original condition.

This 156 UBV is in fantastic condition. Complete and still has its original factory paint. All knobs and switches work. The removable battery compartment (which is often missing) is included. It has the original wiring. All manuals are included. I haven't tested its functionality. A beautiful display item, but be aware that it weighs almost 12 kilos.
