Unfinished gascape pouches from GDN

I was recently fortunate enough to buy a stack of 33 gas cape pouches in tan style in Germany which came from GDN (Wilhelm Stermann from Moers), a well-known manufacturer of gas cape pouches. They were tied with a rope. What struck me was that they had buttons, and I wasn't familiar with this style. Today I untied the rope and discovered that only the top and bottom ones had buttons and buttonholes. All the rest are unfinished, semi-finished products that should have been fitted with snaps. So what do we have here? The construction of the buttonhole and snap styles is different. Those who collect these know that snaps often rust. Perhaps they already had this problem back then. Could this have been an attempt to convert the snap styles to buttonhole styles? The three I have with buttons are the only ones I know of, and note: the reinforcement on the flap is different. I'm selling the unfinished styles for the cheerful price of €29.95 each. I'm holding on to the three with buttons for now. So this ad is for one original, unissued, and unfinished Gascape bag. Rare!
