A Schirmmütze is a German military peaked cap (visor cap) that was a standard item of uniform for all ranks of the German armed forces (Wehrmacht) during World War II.
Design and Components The design of the cap varied slightly based on the rank of the wearer and the branch of service (Army, Luftwaffe, SS, etc.). Typically made of high-quality wool or tricot fabric, with a stiffened oval crown and a shiny black vulcanized fiber or leather peak (visor). Officers often purchased higher-quality, privately tailored versions.
Insignia: Consisted of a national eagle-and-swastika emblem (the Luftwaffeadler for the Air Force) above a national cockade, often surrounded by an oak leaf wreath. These badges were usually metal, but officer versions could be embroidered in silver or gold bullion. Enlisted men wore a black leather chinstrap, while officers and certain senior NCOs wore braided silver or aluminum cords (gold for generals)

This is a very nice infantry officer's visor cap made by Pecüro, made of a beautiful wool fabric. It features a hand-woven cockade and a lightweight bird. It has a very attractive saddle shape. There are two very small moth holes in the side, but they are barely visible. The interior is neat, with a completely undamaged sweatband. The manufacturer's logo and the text "stirndruckfrei Deutsches Reichspatent" are still clearly legible. A very nice visor cap!
