In my opinion, Luftschutz gas masks are underrated. In the past, I collected gas masks and I am still looking for rare models. This Luftschutz gas mask is very rare. Actually it is not a Luftschutz man gasmask but a gasmask from the professional factory guards of Daimler. It is in MINT condition, and that is not all... It is registered on name, has the matching gas mask, and belonged to a factory guard at Daimler Benz. As you have read above, numerous strategic weapons and ammunition were produced there. These factories were even better guarded than military posts, considering sabotage and espionage. The gas mask canister has all its straps, the (short) lower strap is even from a military model. The canister is very neatly marked by the Luftschutz man on the top. On the side of the lid (not visible in the photos), his name is written in pencil. On the inside of the lid, also his name and Luftschutz guard number in pencil, and then in the compartment a set of klarscheiben. The underside of the canister is marked with the Daimler Benz Sindelfingen ink stamp. The GM38 gas mask is in MINT condition and also features the same Daimler ink stamp. The mask bears all the necessary stamps and looks as if it was produced yesterday. The filter is neatly marked with all stamps and a label.
