An MG13 tool pouch is a specific historical military accessory, a blackened leather or canvas carrying case used by German machine gunners during the pre-World War II and World War II eras to carry essential tools and spare parts for the MG13 light machine gun. The pouch was an integral part of the gunner's equipment, worn either on a belt or with a shoulder strap, and was designed for field maintenance of the weapon. Early versions were primarily made of smooth, blackened leather, while later, wartime versions could incorporate canvas or different colored leather. The pouch was specifically designed with internal compartments and sometimes a metal or wooden tray to securely hold various items. It typically held specific tools and spare parts necessary for the machine gun's operation and maintenance, including: A spare bolt, Cleaning equipment, A wrench, A ruptured casing extractor, An anti-aircraft (AA) "spider" sight (Kreiskorn). While originally designed for the MG13, the pouch was also used for the early MG34 machine guns that replaced it.

I recently found this beautiful bag and its contents on the island of Guernsey in the Channel Islands. It's in excellent condition, complete with interior and shoulder strap. All the leather is still very supple. Inside is the wrench, marked BSW (Berlin-Suhler Waffen und Fahrzeugwerke) and WaA 4. The brush is also included. A very nice ensemble.
