*The South African Mk2 helmet in sand color (or desert tan) was the standard issue for South African troops in the North African and Italian campaigns during World War II. These helmets featured a distinctive textured sand paint finish and three holes at the rear brim for an (unused) neck curtain. The helmets are notable for their nearly circular shape (closer to the WWI Brodie style) compared to the more oval British Mk2, and the characteristic three small holes at the back. The liners were typically made by Jager-Rand. *
