A Hitler Youth (Hitlerjugend or HJ) parade flag and pole was a standard-issue banner used by units of the Nazi party's youth organization for ceremonies, marches, and rallies, such as the Nuremberg Rallies. These flags were designed to visually align the youth organization with the broader Nazi Party, frequently featuring red-white-red designs or the classic red field with a white disc and black swastika. Key Features of the Flag (Gefolgschaftsfahne): The standard Hitler Youth flag often consisted of a red field, with a white central diamond containing a black mobile swastika. They were often large, with one documented example measuring 66 x 44 inches. Machine-woven, double-sided, and often marked with RZM (Reichszeugmeisterei) tags, indicating they were authorized party equipment. They were attached to a pole using metal rings. The flag was typically flown from a polished black wooden pole. Finial (Pole Top): The pole was often topped with a white metal or aluminum bayonet-style finial. These flags were carried by a Fahnenträger (flag bearer) at the front of HJ marching formations, symbolizing the unit's allegiance to the Nazi regime. They were crucial in conveying Nazi symbolism to youth and were used during parades to mark regional units, or Banne.

After eighty years, there's one back in Europe. I recently found it in America. This is a complete "veteran bring back" Hitler Youth parade flag consisting of the original two-piece pole, the flag, and the topper. I can't recall a complete one ever being released. You sometimes still find the flag; often the rings are missing, or if they are, they often have different makers. Sometimes you find the top; the pole is a lot harder. But all three at once is even more difficult. Especially since the top and the flag were made by the same maker. This set has never been separated.
The fahnenspitze, or topper, is in phenomenal condition. This aluminum topper still has its original factory polish. It's beautifully marked by the maker RZM M3/27; the photos speak for themselves. The topper has a total length of 36 cm. The flag is in very good condition, with no holes or fraying, a few stains, and is uncleaned. More importantly, all seven aluminum rings are still originally sewn in place, and all seven rings are marked with an RZM marking on the inside, "RZM M3/27/37." The two top rings have 2 holes each to attach the flag to the pole. The flag is a so-called multi-construction flag, with the white disk sewn onto the red cloth, and the swastika then sewn onto the white disk, on both sides. The flag has its RZM label in the upper left corner. The flag measures 170 x 106 cm. The code RZM M3/27/37 is an official marking of the Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) that was used on flag accessories and metal parts of banners during the Third Reich. The marking consists of several parts that provide information about the category and the manufacturer: RZM Stands for the Reichszeugmeisterei, the central organization that supervised the quality and uniformity of equipment and insignia. M3: The material category. In the RZM system, "M3" specifically stands for flag accessories (Fahnenzubehör), such as flagpole rings and clips. 27: The specific manufacturer's license number. This number is linked to the Ferdinand Schaper company from Bielefeld. 37: The year of production, in this case 1937. The pole consists of two parts that fit together perfectly and very tightly. The nickel-plated center sections have a bayonet lock that fits together perfectly. The poles still have their original black paint and are in very good condition, with a few signs of wear. The upper section of the pole has a total length of 150 cm, the lower section a total length of 140 cm. The lower section is slightly bent at the bottom, likely caused by use and possibly some temperature fluctuations. The lower section is completely and originally rounded, thus at its full length. The nickel-plated sections of both poles have never been disassembled; the whole is in an uncleaned, untouched condition.
Here's a summary of the dimensions:
Total length of the flagpole with flag and top: 310 CM (122")
Total length of the top: 36 CM (14")
length of the top portion of the flagpole: 150 CM (59")
length of the lower portion of the flagpole: 140 CM (55")
Diameter of the flagpole: 3,5 CM (1,37")
Dimensions of the flag: 170 x 106 CM (67"x 42")
Number of RZM marked aluminum rings: 7
A wonderfully untouched whole that makes history tangible!
