Nazi party Banner
Category:
A Nazi Party Banner (or flag) is the iconic symbol of the Nationalist Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP). The banner was designed by Adolf Hitler in 1920 and later became the official national flag of Nazi Germany from 1935 to 1945. Hitler described its design and meaning extensively in his book Mein Kampf: A bright red field, which Hitler believed represented the social thought of the Nazi movement. A white circle in the middle that symbolized the nationalist thought. A black swastika in the middle of the white disc. Hitler saw this as the symbol of the "Aryan struggle" and the victory of "creative labor" (which he explicitly defined as anti-Semitic). The combination of red, white and black was a deliberate reference to the flag of the old German Empire, with which the Nazis distanced themselves from the democratic Weimar Republic.
This item:
A beautiful double-sided banner, which isn't very common; most are stitched or printed on one side. It also comes in a nice, collectible size of 140 x 70 cm. It's a multi-layered construction, with a white disk sewn onto the red cloth on both sides. The white disk is printed with the swastika symbol. It shows some wear from use, but this is not significant. The seam on the short side is still intact, allowing for the attachment of a pole or rope. It's a very fresh flag. A nice detail (see photos) is the pre-printed dotted line where the round disk was to be cut out; in this case, there's clearly been a deviation from that. Beautiful banner, in good condition and a nice size!
