A WWII Reichsdienstflagge was the official state service flag of Nazi Germany, used by government agencies, non-military state institutions, and sometimes on official vehicles to represent the Third Reich. It was distinguished from the national flag by a swastika placed within a white circle inside a red field, usually featuring a distinctive eagle emblem in the top-left corner. Displayed by government authorities, public officials, and authorized state vessels/vehicles. Based on the 1935 national flag design (red, white, and black), it commonly featured the Reichsadler (national eagle) in the canton (upper left corner) to denote state service. It was used from 1935 until the end of World War II in 1945. Unlike the simple Hakenkreuzflagge (swastika flag) used as the national flag, the Reichsdienstflagge served as a specific badge of authority for government departments.
