All-Matching Heer M31 Canteen (sel 40)

€ 89,00
An outstanding, 100% original World War II German M31 combat canteen (Feldflasche). This early-war example was manufactured in 1940 by the sought-after firm Brieger & Co. (code sel). A highly desirable and important feature of this piece is that it represents a textbook wartime variant factory-designed and issued without an integrated drinking cup/beker configuration. These specific variants featured a streamlined leather strap system and were officially issued for internal backpack (Rucksack) carry, specialized support troops, or cavalry units. It features a factory-blackened aluminum screw cap and its original early-war aluminum attachment hardware.

100% Factory Matching Set: This canteen is completely untouched and investment-grade. The neck of the aluminum flask, the side of the screw cap, and the interior wool-felt cover are all stamped with the exact same matching manufacturer code and date: "sel 40" (Brieger & Co., 1940). Leather & Paint Condition: The early-war leather strap assembly is in true mint condition—incredibly supple, strong, and securely wrapping the body. 100% of the original paint is still present on both the blackened aluminum screw cap and the snap fasteners.
Felt & Buttons: The original wool-felt cover is beautifully preserved, and all aluminum press-stud buttons close tightly and snap perfectly. There is one small, period moth hole (motgat) in the felt, but it is completely hidden from view directly underneath the vertical leather strap, leaving the overall appearance flawless. Without this hidden flaw, the piece would be considered stone-mint. Hardware & Cap: The aluminum screw cap unscrews smoothly and has excellent threads. The canteen comes complete with its original, early-war spring-loaded aluminum carabiner/musketon clip, bearing the iconic and clear patent markings ("xxxxx") on the hook with strong spring tension.
